Do you love numbers, notice the details, and get a little satisfaction when everything balances?
Valley Christian Counseling & Wellness is looking for a Financial Assistant / Bookkeeper to join our team and help care for the day-to-day financial work that keeps a growing ministry healthy and strong. We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys the details—someone who values accuracy, follows through, notices when something doesn’t look quite right, and takes pride in work done well.

The Work You’ll Do
You’ll work closely with our Practice Management Lead and take meaningful ownership of the recurring financial processes that help Valley run well.

Your work will include things like:
  • Day-to-day bookkeeping and financial data entry
  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Recording payments, deposits, and other transactions
  • Bank and account reconciliations
  • Payroll and contractor-payment processes
  • Maintaining accurate donor and financial records
  • Investigating discrepancies and helping ensure our financial information is complete and reliable
  • Supporting other Finance Office processes as needed

This is important work. You may not be the person sitting across from a client or providing care, but your work helps make that care possible. Good stewardship behind the scenes gives our providers and staff the ability to focus on what God has called Valley to do: helping people become more FULLY ALIVE – navigating the journey toward healing and wholeness through Christ-centered mental health and wellness services.

You Might Love This Job If…
You are the kind of person who:
  • Actually enjoys working with numbers
  • Loves accuracy and gets bothered—in a good way—when something doesn’t reconcile
  • Is dependable and follows things all the way through
  • Can work independently without needing someone to continually check on you
  • Notices discrepancies and is willing to dig until you understand them
  • Enjoys recurring processes and making sure they happen correctly and on time
  • Handles confidential information with exceptional care and integrity
  • Is comfortable learning new systems and better ways of doing things
  • Is humble, teachable, and willing to ask questions
  • Wants your work to contribute to something bigger than yourself

Bookkeeping or accounting experience is important, but we’re also paying close attention to how you’re wired. We want someone we can trust deeply with the details.

That’s particularly important in this role because our Finance Office handles sensitive financial, compensation, donor, business, and client-related information. Valley expects that information to be treated with significant confidentiality.

What’s It Like to Work at Valley?
We take our work seriously.

We try not to take ourselves too seriously.
We want to do excellent work, continually get better, tell the truth when something isn’t working, give and receive feedback, help one another, and leave room to laugh along the way.

Our three core values describe how we want to live and work together:
PURSUE — We orient ourselves, our clients, and our teammates to pursue the transforming love of Jesus Christ.
CARE — We express love, kindness, grace, and empathy in our daily interactions.
SERVE — We use our talents to serve with excellence and help others thrive.

That means culture matters here.

We want a team marked by respectful communication, cooperation, participation, and dignity toward one another.

We want to do excellent work and care deeply about the people doing it alongside us.
